Single Day Select Ski Tour

Itinerary: This is a single day course designed to emphasize the pure enjoyment of skiing in the backcountry of Colorado’s Front Range. This is an appropriate day for folks with only some backcountry ski experience or a lot of experience alike as there is accessible terrain available to a wide variety of skill levels. This single day course will find the students and their guide meeting at an indoor location near Rocky Mountain National Park to cover the course goals, itinerary, clothing/gear selection, avalanche hazard, weather forecast and considerations for the day ahead. The course will then find their way to an appropriate field location for the remainder of the day. At the trailhead the guide will run through and demonstrate a trailhead departure check using their transceivers and then the team will begin a skill level appropriate ski tour. The emphasis of the day will be focused on finding the highest quality snow for the team to ski. While on the subsequent tour the guide will demonstrate and facilitate the learning and application of uphill skiing techniques, uphill turning techniques, transitions to downhill skiing and downhill skiing techniques in the backcountry.
